Risks Of Eating Pineapple In Excess During Pregnancy
Eating pineapple has certain risks especially if consumed in excess. You can have a severe reaction if you are allergic to pineapple. Symptoms can include:

- Skin irritation
The acids in pineapple are known to cause heartburn which will be worse in pregnant women. With the help of pineapple, pregnancy can be enjoyed, but you must be aware of its side effects as well.
The growing uterus will be pushing up your organs in the last trimester. Hence, heartburn can bound to happen. Eating pineapple can make it even worse. Pineapple contains sugar hence it may not be advisable to have it if you have gestational diabetes.
It has also been said that eating pineapple in excess can soften your cervix and can start contractions hence it is better to have very less pineapple, especially in the first trimester. Also, avoid eating pineapple if you are overweight as pineapple contains lots of calories.
Make sure you are choosing a ripe pineapple with green leaves at the tail. Try to eat organic pineapple. Eating pineapple in moderation is safe during pregnancy however if you are still very concerned you can talk to your doctor who knows about your health condition and the condition of the baby growing inside you.
